Consumer Reports undertook a study in 1995 to determine the effectiveness of psychotherapy. Martin Seligman, Ph.D. participated in the data analysis. A total of 2,700 respondents had seen mental health professionals. They had been treated for conditions including anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, depression, alcohol or drug abuse, grief and loss, weight gain, eating disorders, marital problems, sexual disorders, family and work problems and stress.
